My name is Melissa Buchberger and I am running for a seat on the Board of Education for School District 25, serving the Village of Arlington Heights, Illinois.

My life experiences have given me a passion for education and a love of this community.  I grew up in Elk Grove Village and frequently visited Arlington Heights.  After high school I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I majored in both Secondary Education (Spanish) and Psychology. I went on to teach Spanish at high schools in Illinois and Arizona. After our daughter was born, my husband and I chose to return to the Midwest and raise our family in Arlington Heights.  We have been incredibly grateful for the District 25 schools as well as the strong and meaningful connections we have built in this community.

As a former educator become parent, I have continued to seek ways to support our students and teachers.  After being an active volunteer with the PTA, I am currently serving on the Windsor PTA Executive Committee as President.  It has been an honor and joy to engage with families, students, teachers, staff, and leaders in our community to enhance the curriculum and educational experiences of all of our students.

As a Board Member of the AHSD25 Board of Education, I will continue to work hard for District 25 students and families. I aim to collaborate with educators, parents, and the community to create a supportive and innovative educational experience that fosters student growth, strengthens our schools, and addresses the evolving needs of all learners.  My commitment is to advocate for policies that prioritize student success, foster an inclusive and safe learning environment, and ensure that our schools are equipped to meet the diverse needs of every child, all while promoting transparency, accountability, and community engagement.  I thank you for your support and look forward to serving Arlington Heights.
